January’s Social Club Party will be at The Harmony Bar & Grill on Thursday January 23, 6:30-8:30pm. The Harmony is located at 2201 Atwood Ave, on Madison’s Eastside
The Oak Street Ramblers perform at 7:30pm (no cover, please feed the kitty).
Though their influences hail from much further south, the Oak Street Ramblers call home the East Side of Madison, WI. A bluegrass band in the tradition of Flatt and Scruggs, Jimmy Martin, and Hazel Dickens, the Oak Street Ramblers specialize in bluegrass stompers, classic country weepers, and originals that, lyrical content aside, wouldn’t sound out of place at a barn dance circa 1954.
The band is comprised of Ian Alderman on guitar, dobro, and vocals, Annie Emmenegger on guitar and vocals, Jeff Kunkle on bass, Mark Schlutt on banjo and vocals, and Tina Thompson on fiddle.
The Harmony Bar & Grill offers a complete menu of traditional and non-traditional bar food as well as and their own scratch-made pizza, home-made soups & salads. Vegetarian options are available.
Come early, have a bite to eat (optional) and visit with fellow WORTees and curious listeners. Stick around and enjoy some some great Bluegrass music. The Harmony is on several bus routes with a bus stop just outside the door. Bike racks available, too.
The 89.9 Social Club strives to create opportunities for WORT volunteers to meet & visit with one another and get to know folks that share a common experience. The Club PopUp parties also create an opportunity for curious listeners & members of the community to meet WORT volunteers and get a better sense of what WORT is all about.
Please, join us.
