Judge Marilyn Townsend is running for a spot on the Dane County Circuit Court. Townsend is currently serving her third term as a municipal judge in the village of Shorewood Hills. She has also worked as a defense lawyer for 35 years in the Madison area, fighting for victims’ rights and civil rights. This is her second bid for the bench.
Since Townsend announced her candidacy, over 500 judges, attorneys, elected officials and community leaders have publicly endorsed her campaign. It is a long, bipartisan list of names that includes former Wisconsin Governor Marty Schreiber and 12 members of the Dane County Board.
Judge Townsend has instructed her campaign committee to voluntarily limit all campaign contributions to $500, despite the law allowing up to $6000 donations.
Producer Alejandro Alonso Galva spoke with Townsend by phone this morning.
