Last year, in response to the police shooting of Jacob Blake and widespread protests against police brutality, state Assembly Speaker Robin Vos empaneled a bipartisan task force on racial disparities.
The task force includes law enforcement officials as well as representatives from social justice groups across the state. It’s goal was to propose legislation to reform police departments and the courts– a goal which it has yet to achieve.
Earlier today, the task force met in Kenosha. They were greeted by a group of protesters and activists holding their own meeting.
Among them was Justin Blake, Jacob Blake’s uncle.
Earlier today, WORT Producer Jonah Chester spoke with Justin Blake to get his take on the task force — and what changes he’d like to see the group make.
A quick note — this interview was recorded while Blake was still at the event, so the audio may be a little rough – but thanks for bearing with us.
