The Gray Panthers of Madison will hold a public meeting tonight at 6:30 p.m. at the WIL-MAR Neighborhood Center, 953 Jenifer Street. The group works to provide information about the forms of non-violent direct action available to fight attacks on Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security and the entire public safety-net. Members also seek to build inter-generational alliances around such issues as universal healthcare, ending student debt and providing affordable housing. For more information call 284-9082.
Free one-on-one coaching sessions for writing projects of any kind are available today from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Goodman Library, 2222 South Park Street.Writing projects can include resumes and cover letters, school assignments, personal letters, applications or any other kind of writing. Basic computer help, such as setting up email accounts or searching for jobs online, is also available. Call 266-6395 today to sign up for a session.
Decluttering your home? The Literacy Network is collecting used books to re-sell to raise funds to support its classes and provide textbooks for free adult programs that help raise literacy. Donated books can be dropped off at the Literacy Network office, 701 Dane Street, preferably between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Wednesdays. Contact 608-244-3911 for information.
