This is the Insurgent Radio Kiosk for Monday, April 24th
It’s today’s Action Calendar!
An advance screening of a new PBS documentary on the 1882 Chinese Exclusion Act is scheduled for 6 p.m. this evening in the Union South’s Marquee Theatre, 1308 West Dayton Street. The Chinese Exclusion Act, which remained law until repealed in 1943, has been the only U.S. legislation to single out a specific ethnic and racial group for exclusion from immigration and citizenship. What can we learn from this experience given the Trump administration’s directives? Join the filmmakers afterwards for pizza and discussion. Phone 890-3000 for information.
MOSES Madison, a local prison reform group, will hold a “Breakfast 2 Go” fundraising event from 9 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 25th at the corner of Park Street and Hughes Place in the parking lot of the Villager Mall. Members of MOSES will serve coffee and muffins and distribute information about the need for sweeping prison reform in Wisconsin. Phone 213-6080 for information.
Evening Meals on Wheels needs volunteers to deliver hot, nutritious low-cost meals to older and differently-abled people. Locations are flexible and the time commitment is about one hour per shift. For details, call 276-7598.
