The African Association of Madison will host Africa Fest on Saturday, August 17th from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. at McPike Park, 202 South Ingersoll Street. Africa Fest will showcase the traditions and cultural heritage that distinguish the African residents of our community. Musical performances, arts and crafts and “Taste of Africa” food booths will offer something for everyone to enjoy. Phone 258-0261 for information.
All are invited to the dedication of a new historical marker commemorating the Native American mound, formerly known as the Reindahl mound, on the edge of Lake Monona, on Saturday, August 17th, starting at 1:30 p.m. at the Monona Public Library, 1000 Nichols Road. Madison Parks professional golf staff will host a free golf instruction session on Saturday, August 17th from noon to 1 p.m at the Odana Hills Golf Course, 4635 Odana Road. The OutReach Magic Festival-A Pride Celebration will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, August 18th, at Warner Park, 3110 North Sherman Avenue. This year’s celebration will commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Stonewall and the 30th anniversary of Madison’s first Pride Parade. Enjoy entertainment, food, vendors, information booths and more.
