It’s today’s Action Calendar!
The Madison Urban Ministry’s Journey Home Program is hosting a Re-entry Service Fair today from 3:30 to 5 p.m. for those re-entering our community after being incarcerated. This is a peer-support initiative to introduce folks to programs and support options. The service fair is offered at 2115 South Park Street. Phone 256-0906 for information.
Free one-on-one coaching sessions for writing projects of any kind are available today from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Goodman Library, 2222 South Park Street. Projects can include resumes and cover letters, school assignments, personal letters, newsletters or any other kind of writing. Basic computer help, such as setting up email accounts, or searching for jobs online, is also available. Call 246-4548 to make a 60-minute appointment.
A free screening of the documentary “Un Poquito de Tanta Verdad/A Little Bit of So Much Truth” about the popular uprising in the Mexican State of Oaxaca is scheduled for this evening at 6:30 p.m. at the Wilmar Center, 953 Jenifer Street. When a non-violent, popular uprising exploded in Oaxaca, some called it the first Latin American revolution of the 21st century. The film captures the media phenomenon that emerged when tens of thousands of school teachers, housewives, indigenous communities, health workers, farmers, and students took over fourteen radio stations and one TV station. Part of the Fall 2017 Madison Free Skool series on Nonviolent Struggle and Direct Action. For information phone 438-9536.
