This is the Insurgent Radio Kiosk for Friday, May 4th
It’s This Weekend’s Action Calendar!
A free screening of the film, “Gender Troubles: The Butches”, is scheduled for this evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hawthorne Library, 2707 East Washington Avenue. Contrary to the stereotype, butch lesbians aren’t trying to be feminine and failing. Rather, they are women being true to their own selves. The women portrayed in this film examine and challenge society’s assumptions about what it means to be female. They also show the rewards that come when we learn to accept ourselves as we are. Phone 246-4548 for information.
Check out “Sharefest” on Saturday, May 5th from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Brittingham Park, 829 West Washington Street. This free community event will feature a potluck, kids activities, a plant and seed swap, as well as many skillshare workshops. Discover how much fun the sharing economy can be! Hosted by the Dane County Time Bank. Phone 663-0400 for information.
