This is the Insurgent Radio Kiosk for Monday, September 25th
It’s today’s Action Calendar!
The documentary film “Legend Lake: A Talking Circle” will be screened this evening from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Pinney Library, 204 Cottage Grove Road. The film recounts the saga of Legend Lake, a beautiful 5,160 acre lake development, formed in northern Wisconsin whose shore-land was subdivided and sold mostly to non-Menominee people. Legend Lake represents another chapter in the long and often contentious relationship between American Indians and non-Indians in Wisconsin. After the film screening, a guided discussion will be led by Aaron Bird Bear, Assistant Dean, Student Diversity Programs, School of Education at UW-Madison. Phone 224-7100 for information.
Whether you’re new to Medicare, soon to be turning 65, or preparing to retire, you’ll need to make several important decisions about your health coverage. Learn about the different parts of Medicare at a free workshop on Tuesday, September 26th from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Madison Senior Center, 330 West Mifflin Street. Medicare specialist Donna Bryant will take you through what you need to know, and take questions after the presentation. More in depth 1on 1 appointments will also be available. Phone 266-6581 to pre-register.
