Wisconsin Books to Prisoners is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization whose mission is to foster a love of reading for those behind bars, encourage the pursuit of knowledge and self-empowerment and break the cycle of recidivism. Since 2006 Wisconsin Books to Prisoners has sent over 50,000 books to prisoners in our state. Volunteers meet weekly on Wednesdays from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Social Justice Center, 1202 Williamson Street. If you’d like to get involved, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
A community meeting to share draft development concepts for the Oscar Mayer site and surrounding areas will be held this evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Warner Park Community Recreation Center, 1625 Northport Drive. Attendees will have the opportunity to provide feedback to City staff and consultants. For information, phone 261-9676.
The West Madison Senior Coalition will offer meals to those 60 and older on Thursday, October 17th from noon to 1 p.m. at the Meadowridge Library, 5740 Raymond Road. There is a suggested minimum donation of $4.00, but participants can contribute what’s affordable. Transportation is available. Meal and bus reservations should be made today by calling 238-7368.
The Insurgent Radio Kiosk is a four minute pre-recorded segment featuring a commentary and calendar of daily events. Events must be low cost or non-profit and of interest to people in and around the WORT listening area.
