A free screening of the film, “This Is Home: A Refuge Story”, is scheduled for this evening from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Sequoya Library, 4340 Tokay Boulevard. The film offers an intimate portrait of four Syrian refugee families arriving in America and struggling to find their footing and rebuild their lives. For information, phone 266-6385.
A public input meeting regarding the re-design of Portland Park will be held this evening from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Kennedy Elementary School, 221 Meadowlark Drive. A free presentation on “Maintaining Cyber Security at Home” will be offered from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 12th, at the Madison Senior Center, 330 West Mifflin Street. Two local IT professionals will share their experiences and expertise on how we can protect ourselves from scammers trying to steal our personal information. A free preparation class for anyone planning on applying for US citizenship and passing the citizenship exam will kick off on Tuesday, September 12th, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Catholic Multicultural Center, 1862 Beld Street. Participants will study the history and civics questions included on the exam, and practice reading and writing simple English. The study group will meet weekly to November 21st.
