Minneapolis’s latest gift to rock ‘n’ roll, that retro garage-rock quartet of bad girls who call themselves L’Assassins, tops a rocking, estrogenic bill on Wednesday at the Wisco (a/k/a the Willy Street Pub & Grill).
The show starts at 9:00 p.m. with a pair of loud local acts, The Rotten Tommys & Skizzwhores. The wood-paneled Wisco is located at 852 Williamson Street on Madison’s hip east side.
L’Assassins feature Tea Ann Simpson on lead vocals, Monet Wong on guitar, Ariel Dornbush on bass & Angela Clark on drums. They’re currently on tour, with stops in the South, Midwest & Montreal (Canada). They’ve even conquered European stages.
Inspired by rockabilly queen Wanda Jackson as well as punk pioneers The Ramones, L’Assassins have been playing club gigs since 2011. These gorgeous Midwesterners have opened for such legendary performers as Ronnie Spector (“Be My Baby”) & Cherie Currie (The Runaways). Their pinup-girl leather & lipstick look is complemented by screaming guitars & fierce songs, including “Backseat Bomp” & the new single, “Fire of Love”.
Come get an eyeful & don’t forget your earplugs at this special Wisco show. Be sure to listen tonight for your chance to win tickets on our Original Wilson Brothers, Leopard Print Lounge and Punk Kitten programs.
