Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce — the state’s largest industry lobbying group — is currently suing the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources over the DNR’s authority to regulate pollution.
If WMC wins the case, environmental advocacy groups warn that it could bar the DNR from enforcing a crucial pollution control policy.
Last week, a Waukesha County circuit judge barred Midwest Environmental Advocates — and several other environmental organizations — from directly intervening in the case. Instead, the groups will be allowed to file an amicus brief supporting the DNR’s position.
