The national conversation about reproductive justice has been ramping up since Texas’s new abortion ban came into effect earlier this month.
But the injustices of reproductive politics start with birth control, where women shoulder the burden. For today’s show, Tuesday host Carousel Bayrd talks with sociologist Krystale Littlejohn about her new book on hormonal birth control, “the gendered work that goes into pregnancy prevention,” and why it’s not so easy to “just get on the pill.”
Krystale Littlejohn is an assistant professor of sociology at the University of Oregon. She is the author of Just Get on the Pill: The Uneven Burden of Reproductive Politics (University of California Press, 2021).
