The culture of rape and the normalization of men dominating the sexuality of women is almost as thick as the culture of racism in America. When a woman reports that she has been raped, the system is quick to denounce or belittle her claim by bringing up her soiled sexual history. If that doesn’t work, they then go to the “she wanted it” theory. If all else fails, they deny it ever happened.
Today we come to you live from the Bill Cosby trial in Pennsylvania with author, blogger and reporter Elona Washington. Her book is entitled “Ivy League to Stripper Life: 10 Lessons Learned.”
In her memoir Washington talks about she felt more at home in the club than she did being in college, her parent’s house or even at church. She reflects on where she has been and what it took to get to where she is also the lesson she has learned over the years. She takes her time to reflect on her childhood and where things began to spiral out of control.
Washington shares a front row view of what has and is going on with the trial in real time.
