October 27th, 60 years ago was the 12th day of the 13 day Cuban Missile Crisis. It is considered the longest day of the crisis, and everyone braced for what was thought to be an inevitable war.
Joining us to talk about the threat of nuclear war is Norman Solomon. We talk about the history behind the Crisis, how it relates to the conflict in Ukraine, and take questions from callers.
Norman Solomon is the executive director of the Institute for Public Accuracy, the author of War Made Easy, and a cofounder of RootsAction.org.
Many marched to “Defuse Nuclear War” across the country earlier this month, including protestors in Madison.
Another War Abolition Walk is scheduled on Saturday, Oct 29 in Madison at 10:30am. The walk will begin at Gates of Heaven synagogue in James Madison Park. It will go to Representative Mark Pocan’s office, then travel down to Senator Tammy Baldwin’s office and wrap up at noon.
