WORT is now looking for volunteers to host world music shows. Are you a global citizen? Does world music move you and help you feel connected with people around the planet? Have you ever yearned to share that wonderful feeling somehow? Then YOU may be interested in opportunities to host international music shows on WORT. You don’t need any previous radio experience; just bring us your knowledge and passion for a wide range of music from around the world, and especially from the African diaspora.
A permanent host is being sought for our Thursday morning slot (formerly Diaspora with Terry O’, currently called Hejira and hosted by multiple DJs) which runs from 9 am to noon. We’re also looking for volunteers to help with other world music shows. DJs are needed as substitute hosts, to produce radio and podcast specials, share interviews, to anchor and engineer during live remotes and more. In particular, volunteers with expertise in music from the African diaspora are needed to work with the Panafrica show on Saturdays from 2-4 pm.
Go to this link to fill out an application today! At the bottom of the overall volunteer application, check the box for “Music” and a music host application will open up with additional questions. Back Porch Broadcasting seeks to expand our diversity and service to our communities, and we strongly encourage applications from women, nonbinary individuals, and Black, Indigenous and other people of color. If you have any questions please contact Sybil Augustine, Music Director at musicdirector@wortfm.org or call 608-256-2001 (ext. 6)
