Comedian Louis C.K. is coming to Madison this weekend to perform five shows at Comedy on State. There’s been a lot of local buzz about this, with many criticizing the venue for inviting him given the sexual harassment allegations revealed in 2017.
For today’s show, Carousel Bayrd hosts a roundtable discussion of Louis C.K., “cancel culture,” sexual harassment in the entertainment industry, the power of comedy to make—and break—cultural norms, and creating safe spaces for women and queer comics to thrive.
Our guests are local comic Dina Nina, founder of Lady Laughs Comedy, and Jonathan Gray, professor of media and cultural studies at UW–Madison.
Dina Nina will be performing at the BABE-APALOOZA all-women comedy show at Bos Mead Hall on Sunday, July 25 at 6PM. Tickets and information available here.
