One of the city’s largest projects, Bus Rapid Transit, is set to go into effect next year, making bus service for most Madison residents faster and easier.
But one concern with BRT came out of the decreased number of bus stops around the city, with some folks concerned that, by having to walk farther to get to a bus stop, disabled folks will have fewer transportation options.
That’s where Madison paratransit comes in, and earlier today, the city’s finance committee debated on whether or not to expand the service and add a new provider into the fleet.
Mike Rusch, with the City of Madison Metro, spoke with WORT Producer Nate Wegehaupt about paratransit and its future.
You can find more information on Madison paratransit, and schedule an eligibility meeting, on the city of Madison’s website.
