(WORT)–Madison residents have been doing their part to help after a massive earthquake struck coastal Ecuador a little over a week ago.
The Ecuadorean government says the death toll from the magnitude-7.8 quake has surpassed 650, and another 58 are still missing. The country has sustained over 3 billion dollars in damages and, as of Saturday, more than 25,000 people were living in shelters.
In the wake of the disaster, a new coalition called Badgers for Ecuador, in collaboration with NGO Andean Health and Development, has been working to provide relief and assistance from Wisconsin. Darien Lamen reports.
