On Friday, July 12th, sub-host Stacy Harbaugh was joined by Jim Cain, Board President of Madison Savoyards Ltd. Madison Savoyards was founded in 1963 by high-school students who wished to do justice to the Gilbert and Sullivan comic operas with a full orchestra. They are currently celebrating their 50 year anniversary, and will be performing their 51st show – Iolanthe. This show was the premier opera of Madison Savoyards.
Cain discussed his love of Gilbert and Sullivan, how he became involved and why he stays. All performances by Madison Savoyards are run and enacted by volunteers such as Cain.
The next showing of Iolanthe will be performed at the U.W.-Madison Music Hal Friday, July 19th and Saturday, July 20th at 7:30pm, with a Sunday matinee at 3pm. You can purchase tickets here.
