The pandemic has provided opportunities to raise awareness around disability justice and universal design. For today’s show, Tuesday host Ali Muldrow speaks with Martha Siravo and Anna Stevens, two women who have been advocating for youth with disabilities and sharing their stories in a group they founded called Madtown Mommas & Disability Advocates.
They talk about the impacts of virtual learning on special education students, caretaker burnout and the importance of school and community support for parents, and what it means to live in a just society with access and inclusion for all.
Martha Siravo is president of the mother-led organization Madtown Mommas & Disability Advocates. Martha is a community leader and was Ms. Wheelchair Wisconsin 2020–2021.
Anna Stevens is co-founder of Madtown Mommas and Disability Advocates.
