The “No Cops in Schools” movement in Madison experienced a major victory last week when the school board voted unanimously to end the school district’s contract with the police department and remove SROs from Madison schools.
Today, we talk to some of the youth activists who helped make it happen. Our guests are Cilena and Sodia from Freedom, Inc.’s Freedom Youth Squad and East High students Gordon and Ana, who share their experience with youth activism, how they feel about SROs and security guards in their schools, their thoughts on anti-racism education and community control, and what they see for the future.
