After a two-year hiatus, Mel & Mr. Smarty Pants return live to Four Star Video
There have been many great comebacks in human history — Napoleon, Muhammed Ali, Jesus, and of course, the McRib sandwich. Add another comeback to the list… that great Madison tradition, the Mel & Floyd Wisconsin Film Festival Spectacular.
After a two-year hiatus, WORT’s own Mel and Mr. Smarty Pants will broadcast live from downtown Madison’s Four Star Video Rental, interviewing a star-studded list of figures from the Wisconsin Film Festival.
We’re back baby, rested, tanned, and ready. So join us on Friday, April 8th, from 1-2pm at Four Star Video Rental (that’s 459 W Gilman St). Or, tune in to your favorite community radio station to catch the action as it happens.
Early reviews agree — this will be big, Big, BIG!
Q: What guests are scheduled to attend? The parking attendant from Jurassic Parking Lot?
A: No, they were unavailable. A full guest list is TBA.
Q: How can I tune in?
A: Turn your radio dial to 89.9 FM, or stream via your smartphone or smart speaker. All of the ways to listen are detailed here.
Q: Can I attend?
A: Yes! We’d love to see you down at Four Star Video. Be forewarned that you may become a part of the broadcast, and you may also be photographed or filmed. Say you’re going on Facebook.
Q: What are the COVID-19 policies?
A: Please bring a mask to wear inside Four Star Video, or grab one from us.
Q: Is there parking?
A: Well, it is downtown… A parking garage is available one block away at State Street Campus Garage – Frances St.
Q: Who are Mel & Mr. Smarty Pants?
A: Every Friday afternoon from 1-2pm, two wacky guys broadcast a hilarious blend of political commentary and weird news. It’s called the Mel & Floyd Summer Replacement Show. Subscribe to the podcast here and to past shows here.
Q: What is Four Star Video Rental?
A: Four Star Video has been renting movies in downtown Madison since 1985. In that time, they’ve amassed a collection of 22,000 titles, and the knowledge to know which one you’re looking for. After a move several years ago, Four Star is now located at 459 W Gilman St.
