The U.S Department of Health and Human Services says that Alabama is no longer planning to prevent people with intellectual disabilities from being treated with ventilators in case supplies become scarce. The plan, originally published in 2010, violates federal civil rights laws, but hospitals in other states around the nation are considering similar measures.
