A Sociologist at Madison College ( Professor Diane Soles) has long wanted to assign her students the creation of an Access Hour program about Race & Ethnicity (one of the courses she teaches regularly). Since she has long thought about this, she has lots of ideas…but she’s never put together a radio show, so this is an exciting hour. About 30 students are participating — this kind of traffic facilitation at the radio station is pretty interesting, but the number of voices enthusiastically participating is awesome.
About Access Hour
WORT turns its airwaves over to members of the community. The show opens up radio production to people that have typically not been on the air before. The show is completely different from one week to the next. Guests have included community groups, musicians, aspiring DJs, story-tellers, call-in discussions, radio plays, live bands, fans of niche music, and lots of other topics.
