Tonight, join Freedom Inc and Young Gifted and Black’s M. Adams, Professor Will Jones from the UW Department of History, and Professor Pam Oliver from the UW Department of Sociology, for a conversation about the history of violence in social movements. Why does state violence get framed as normal, but protestors breaking windows is framed as violent and out of line? Do charges of violence and calls for peace maintain the status quo? These questions and more will be addressed by the panel. It will be facilitated by Dr. Sara McKinnon. This is at 7pm in Room L160 of the Elvehjem Building, 800 University Avenue. The Wisconsin Student Advocacy Project provides advocacy for students facing expulsion. The project is made up of University of Wisconsin Law School students dedicated to eradicating the school to prison pipeline. When a school denies a child education, that child faces potentially disastrous consequences later in life. If you know of a child facing expulsion, please email them at wisconsinstudentadvocacy@gmail.com.
