A few months ago, on the June 30 show to be exact, PNM’s Jake Walters spoke with University of North Carolina psychologist Kurt Gray about his, and his colleague Daniel Wegner’s, book called The Mind Club: Who Thinks, What Feels, and Why It Matters. In a nutshell, he describes morality as a perception of mind. But, Jake and Kurt had a much longer discussion that was not able to be aired – until now. Tonight, Kurt describes such things as cryto-minds, diatic completion, and the “cuteness” factor in terms of providing empathy, particularly to animals (such as pets) not regarded for having minds, due solely for being “cute.” So, please listen to the audio above to hear the rest of Jake’s interview with Kurt.
