Looking for a new hot-drink to keep you cozy this winter? Sara’s Table shares with us a mulled wine recipe inspired from the November wine festival in France that is usually celebrated tomorrow, the third Thursday of November—the celebration of the new Beaujolais.
1 (750 ml) bottle red wine
1 orange or lemon sliced
1/2-3/4 cup brandy (optional)
1/2 cup honey or sugar
8 whole cloves (or ¼ teaspoon of ground clove)
2 cinnamon sticks (or 1 teaspoon cinnamon)
2 star anise
Combine all ingredients in a non-aluminum saucepan, and bring to a simmer over medium-high heat. Reduce heat to medium-low, and let simmer for at least 15 minutes. Serve warm and garnish with one of the simmered orange or lemon slices and a star anise pod or cinnamon stick.
