In a hour with several callers, host Allen Ruff talks with Madison-based author, Vietnam veteran, and activist Doug Bradley. His new book is Who’ll Stop the Rain: Respect, Remembrance, and Reconciliation in Post-Vietnam America. It explores how the music of the Vietnam era helped create safe, nonjudgmental environments for listening, sharing, and understanding.
Doug Bradley has written extensively about his Vietnam, and post-Vietnam, experiences. He served as a journalist for the U.S. Army Republic from November 1970 to November 1971. Doug is the author of DEROS Vietnam: Dispatches from the Air-Conditioned Jungle and co-author of We Gotta Get Out of This Place: The Soundtrack of the Vietnam War.
