Lockdown doesn’t mean shutdown for musicians, no way! This year’s virtual Make Music Day celebration went online for an international day of music-making where anyone can participate and all can enjoy. Visit the links below to see and hear some of what went on around the world.
Many musicians streamed from quarantine, performed in large outdoor spaces or collaborated online to keep this global tradition going, and Madison was no exception. Make Music Day happens annually on the Summer Solstice (June 21st) and Madison musicians in all genres take part. Later in 2020 a second Solstice celebration will take place on December 21st, which may allow for live audiences to attend the performances. Stay tuned for more information on that event.
You can stream some of the 2020 live performances from the Make Music Madison facebook page. Many more links to local artists and activities can be found on the MMM homepage, where you may also donate to support artists and the MMM event. Scroll down to find links to archived streams from other cities, states and countries across the globe.
