How do I get my music played on WORT?
We accept submissions in most genres and styles of music, focusing on noncommercial, out-of-the-mainstream, independent releases (check out our playlists and music charts for more information.)
It may take up to a few weeks for us to review and process your submission so we appreciate your patience, and feel free to contact us to follow up.

WORT Music Director
118 S. Bedford St
Madison, WI 53703-2626 - Email downloads, links, dropbox/wetransfer invites, etc. to musicdirector@wortfm.org
- Please do not send files larger than 15 mb in email messages.

-
- What else should I send with it?
- Include a one-sheet description and any biographical and tour information, as well as indicating any tracks with explicit language.
- Music with unmarked swears may be pulled from our library — we don’t want to risk an FCC violation, so doing this is helpful to both of us.
- Can I send you a link to download my music from Bandcamp?
- If you prefer to send us to a third-party site like BandCamp, you must provide us with a code for a free download. We cannot broadcast music by streaming it directly from BandCamp and we do not purchase music for airplay on WORT.
- Can I send you a Spotify link of my album?
- That won’t work for airplay since broadcasting music by streaming it directly from Spotify violates the user’s Terms of Service. It may be a way to let DJs hear a sample of your music, but it’s not accepted for music submissions to our library.
Format
Digital music should be sent in .wav or other lossless files or high quality mp3s [min. 320 kbps.]
CDs are often still the quickest way to get music into the hands of our programmers and onto the airwaves.
You can follow up or “track” your submissions by email, or call 608-256-2001 on Wednesdays between 1-4 pm CST to ask if we received it, has it been reviewed, has it been added to our library, and what kind of airplay it’s getting—e.g. light, medium, heavy or charting.
Thanks and we look forward to hearing your music!
