Madison voters elected a new mayor last April, ousting so-called “mayor-for-life” Paul Soglin in favor of Satya Rhodes Conway. But the mayor’s seat wasn’t the only turnover. Voters also sent nine new Alders to the 20-member Common Council, none of whom have ever held elected office before.
