In late April, the Trump administration issued several rule changes to the federal Clean Waters Act, which protects America’s lakes, rivers and wetlands. The rule changes are tentatively set to take effect this coming Monday, June 22nd.
But, a legal case brought by environmental groups throughout the country is seeking to toss out the rule changes. The coalition is currently seeking an injunction from a federal judge that would put the policy on hold until a formal court ruling can be handed down.
Earlier today, WORT Producer Jonah Chester spoke with Evan Feinauer to discuss what the potential rule changes mean for waterways in Wisconsin and throughout the country. Feinauer is a Staff Attorney with Clean Wisconsin, one of the groups participating in the suit.
