To kick off pledge drive on A Public Affair on Monday October 14th, our host John Quinlan was joined by Robert McChesney- John Nichols about their newest book “Dollarocracy,” followed by Barbara Wright and Luciano Matheron from WYOU with more information about their new collaboration with the library.
The Effects of the Government Shutdown
We are in the second week of the government shutdown, which means we are getting closer to the possibility that the United States will default on its debt. On Friday October 11th, our host Esty Dinur was joined in-studio with Mary Bottari, Center for Media and Democracy’s Deputy Director, to break apart the government shutdown and to take a closer look at who the key players are.
Man of Fire: Selected Writings
On Thursday October 10th, our host Allen Ruff was joined by Armando Ibarra, co-author of “Man of Fire: Selected Writings”, the newly released anthology of writings by Ernesto Galarza. Ibarra is an assistant professor in the School of Workers at UW-Madison Extension.

On Tuesday October 8th, our host Carousel Bayrd was joined by Rob Chappell, the director of strategic communications for the Overture Center for the Arts, and Pam Andros the director of Dane County Cultural Affairs Commission and Senior Planner for Dane County, to discuss the Overture Center for the Arts as well as the arts in Madison.
