Last Thursday, frontline nurses and caregivers proposed a healthcare workforce trauma and recovery training program to Dane County supervisors. Nurses made the proposal to the Health and Human Needs committee meeting of the Dane County Board. Shocking poll results of 920 healthcare workers revealed that 19% know someone who has considered or had suicidal ideations and 39% admitted to using alcohol to cope due to pandemic related trauma. Labor Radio spoke with Amanda Klinge, a nurse at UW hospital, about the 30 million dollar proposal to get healthcare workers the help they need.
