“If the political leaders don’t want to or can’t bring peace, let the soldiers do it!”
For today’s show, Friday host Esty Dinur speaks with Osama Elewat, board member of Combatants for Peace, an organization of Palestinian and Israeli former soldiers. Elewat was born in Jerusalem, moved with his family to Jericho at age eleven, and, after encountering the Israeli army’s repression several times on his way to school, joined the violent resistance.
They talk about the killing of Shireen Abu Akleh and the attack on mourners during her funeral, other issues in the region, and his journey to becoming a Combatant for Peace.
For the last few minutes of the show, we are joined by Beth Schuman, executive director of American Friends of Combatants for Peace.
