On Friday September 27th, our host Esty Dinur was joined by Alex Rivera, a world renown documentary filmmaker, and Alan Weisman, an award-wining journalist to discuss the future of our planet.
Alex Rivera’s collection of works covers issues of labor, migration, and other cross-border exchanges. Rivera’s very first feature film SLEEP DEALER, a science-fiction set in Tijuana, Mexico, premiered at Sundance 2008. At Sundance, the film won two awards, including the Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award and the Alfred P. Sloan Feature Prize.
For the second half of the show, Dinur talked with Weisman about his latest book, “COUNTDOWN: Our Last, Best Hope for a Future on Earth?” In the book, Weisman discusses the effects that human kind has had on the planet and possibly the quickest, affordable, practical, and most acceptable solution to saving the planet.
