Madison’s culture scene is certainly hopping this weekend… Science Festivals and the Wisconsin Book Festival, too. The Wisconsin Book Festival is now in its second year with the Madison Public Library as the primary sponsor and organizer. The Library isn’t run by fools, they’ve brought back one of the more popular events featuring spoken word performances by UW’s First Wave artists. You have two opportunities to catch the poems: the Passing the Mike/All Elements Hip Hop Arts spoken word Showcase takes place this Thursday, October 16 at 8:00 p.m. and the First Wavers hit the stage again at 5pm on Friday, October 17, both performances at Overture’s Promenade Hall. Joining the Buzz on October 13 to tell us more is Willie Ney, executive director of the University of Wisconsin’s Office of Multicultural Arts Initiatives.
