On Wednesday January 29th, our host Karma Chavez was joined by Dr. Chris Brown to discuss not only the Richard Sherman interview, but also how it is connected to racial politics, the word “thug” and white privilege.
After this 20-30 second interview with Sherman, social media exploded with negative discourse after the outburst calling Sherman a “thug” and “classless”. What impacts could this breif interview have on racial politics overall? Both Chavez and Brown spoke on their thoughts about this question and what role black masculinity plays in racial discourse in sports.
