Clocking in at 956 billion dollars, the U.S. Farm Bill ranks as one of the most significant annual domestic budget appropriations by Congress. Including everything from dairy pricing to wetland restoration, from ethanol subsidies to Food Stamps, this omnibus bill has a little something for everyone. Well almost everyone. Berkeley University’s Haas Institute for a Fair and Inclusive Society recently published its first report on the Farm Bill, and has concluded that the spending priorities perpetuate racial and socioeconomic disparities throughout the nation. Graduate student Hossein Ayazi co-authored the report, and he joined 8 O’Clock Buzz host Brian Standing by phone.
