Radio Ada, More Community Service, More Trouble

Back in January, WORT talked to staff at Radio Ada, a community radio station in the Accra region of Ghana after the station was invaded by thugs and staff members were beaten and broadcast equipment was broken. Now a Radio Ada producer has been arrested for a Facebook post he made asking why a community member had been arrested and shackled to a hospital bed for five weeks. He has been unofficially charged with posting untrue information which appears to be part of an intimidation campaign against the station’s efforts to bring information to the community.
Last week Gil Halsted spoke to Radio Ada staff again, including the producer who was arrested who presents his side of the story.
