For the first part of today’s show, we re-air a broadcast from 2018, when former host Lilada Gee spoke with Patrisse Cullors, a co-founder of the Black Lives Matter movement and a prison abolition advocate based out of Los Angeles. Her memoir, now essential on antiracism reading lists, is titled When They Call You a Terrorist.
Then, we look at how to be—and how not to be—an ally for racial justice on social media with writer, activist, and inclusion and equity consultant Anoosh Jorjorian, who was recently interviewed on the 8 O’Clock Buzz about her viral post, “Dear White Allies: Don’t Appropriate Our Anger.”
Many thanks to former A Public Affair host Lilada Gee and 8 O’Clock Buzz host Jonathan Zarov for these interviews.
