Tomorrow, November 11th is nationally recognized as “Veterans Day” but some antiwar activists, including Veterans for Peace, want to reclaim the day as a day of peace. For the first half hour, we talk with Larry Orr, who is a member of Veterans for Peace, and Brittyn Calyx, who is connected with About Face: Veterans Against the War. They tell us about the history of Armistice Day and how the change to Veterans Day glorifies wars and leaves out the civilians who have been affected by it. You can learn more about the cost of war from this Brown University study.
A walk is organized tomorrow, November 11th at 1pm starting at the capitol rotunda:
Then, we talk about water protection with Johnson Bridgwater from River Alliance of Wisconsin about the “Clean Water Now” advisory referendum questions that appeared on ballots in 5 rural counties. When asked if they believed that clean water should be a right, a majority of voter voted “yes.” Johnson joins us to explain how that result could be used to make real change.
