WORT’s second Record Riot was a smashing success! After months of collecting and sorting records of all shapes and sizes, we hauled our bins of vinyl out of the basement and put them up for sale. And thanks to you we raised almost $1100 for community radio!
Big thanks also go out to the staff of The High Noon Saloon as well as the staff and volunteers who helped coordinate and execute the Riot. We are also grateful to our fellow vinyl vendors, without whom we would be sitting alone in a big empty room with boxes of records.
But most importantly, thank you to everyone who came out on Saturday! The Riot was conceived out of the necessity of clearing out the volume of vinyl collected over the years at WORT. Your participation and enthusiasm have transformed a simple fundraiser into a true community event.
Do you have vinyl to donate to WORT? Find out more by sending an email to Aaron Scholz at musicass@wortfm.org.
Our plan is to make the Record Riot biannual with one in the spring and one in the fall. We are tentatively looking at March for the next go around. We will keep you posted but in the mean time : dig out some cool wax, fire up the turntable and turn it up!
