It was with a heavy heart that we announced WORT DJ extraordinaire Ted Putnam, aka “Ted Offensive” died in his sleep a couple of days before Thanksgiving. Ted was a tireless supporter not only of WORT but of the local music scene. His show ‘Songs of Safety and Manners’ regularly featured live local bands. Ted was owner and purveyor of Raizer X Records, former manager of San Francisco band The Witnesses and creator of the “Offensive?” local compilation CD. Ted did DJ stints around the city at Genna’s, Natt Spil and more, and was a friendly and enthusiastic presence at many rock shows over the course of his 25+ years in Madison.
