In his first 10 days in office, President Donald Trump has already established an ambitious and far-reaching agenda. Through an aggressive use of executive orders, Trump has already started the process of undoing the Affordable Care Act, issued gag orders on dozens of federal agencies, banned immigration from seven countries with majority Muslim populations, dumped the Joint Chiefs of Staff from the National Security Council, implemented a federal hiring freeze — with exemptions for the military and immigration officials, and antagonized the governments of Mexico and China. Whether or not all of this flurry of executive orders will stand up in court remains to be seen, but nonetheless, the former reality television star and real estate mogul has certainly set a blistering pace in his first few days in office. Here in Madison, District 10 Alder is determined to match and check Trump step by step. Cheeks recently completed the first meetings of his 100 Days of Action initiative, a drive to get the Madison community taking practical steps to block Trump’s agenda.
