A green burial is a process caring for the dead with minimal environmental impact. On today’s show, guest host Gene Delcourt leads an end-of-year discussion about end-of-life choices with Rev. Selena Fox and Shedd Farley, both of whom are in the business of helping folks return to the earth as naturally as possible.
Rev. Selena Fox is the senior minister and high priestess of Circle Sanctuary, a Nature Spirituality church, Pagan resource center, and nature preserve. Circle Sanctuary is located about an hour west of Madison. The church is home to The Circle Cemetery. It is was created in 1995. That makes it one of the first green cemeteries to be established in the United States and the first green cemetery to be established on a Nature Preserve in Wisconsin.
Shedd Farley is the director of Farley Center. The Farley Center is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting ecological sustainability, social justice, and peace. It is located just outside of Verona in Town of Springdale on more than forty acres of farm and wooded land. The center runs the Natural Path Sanctuary. It is a green cemetery and the first cemetery in Dane County that exclusively follows natural or green burial practices.
