Carousel Bayrd speaks with Chris Ott, Executive Director of the American Civil Liberties Union of Wisconsin, about the three ‘riot’ bills currently in legislation, Senate Bill 303, 304, and 305 and Assembly Bills 395, 396, and 397. These bills would lower the threshold for the legal definition of a riot to “a public disturbance” that involves “at least three people.” Ott also comments on a bill that would make it more difficult for the public to request access to police body camera footage that was voted on today.
In the second half Carousel speaks with State Representative Melissa Sargent, who introduced the Hygiene Product Accessibility Act (LRB-0272 and LRB-4682) into legislation last week. The act would both require hygiene products to be available in any state or government building, and would create a sales tax exemption for menstruation hygiene products.
