From Lake Itasca, Minnesota all the way down to the Gulf of Mexico, the Mississippi River passes through the heart of America. There’s a lot of history contained along its 2,500 miles, from flour mills and industrial farms to the foundations of blues and jazz music. St. Louis native Eddy Harris has traveled down the entire length of the Mississippi, by canoe — twice, now — to chronicle that history to see just how the river has shaped the nation.
Eddy Harris will be present at two free special screenings of his film River to the Heart on Oct. 30 at the Marquee in Union South and Nov. 1 at the UW South Madison Partnership.
